This is just a quick post to let everyone know that Tangible Math is available now! I’ll have a more complete introduction to it soon (update: see the product page), but you can already get it on iTunes, Google Play, the Amazon Appstore, and the NOOK Store.

Tangible Math is a full set of virtual manipulatives for preschool, kindergarten, and 1st grade math. These are physical objects you’d use to teach math concepts with your child. Instead of setting a kid down in front of an app and walking away, this app facilitates interaction between the teacher and the student. Just check out the screenshots and you’ll see what it’s all about!

I have been using tangible math with my kindergarten class for several years.  As of recently, upon opening the app, there is a black strip on the right side of the screen, only part of the buttons are viewable, and nothing will work correctly.  I have tried updating my operating system and deleting and reinstalling the app, but it is still not working.

I’m sure this is too late to be of much help, but I’ll still put it out there: There have been recent Apple iOS updates that made the current version of Tangible Math no longer work.  Due to personal and time issues, there is no plan to fix it at this time.  Hopefully I can get back to it and fix it up in the future.

  2. Jonny D,
I can’t even begin to tell you how bummed I am that this Tangible Math application will no longer work. I had been using it for years to support many students’ access to the curriculum. The desire to need to use tangibles but the inability to support the fine motor skills that one needs to maneuver them is real. Many disabled students have no ability to do math without manipulatives but are so disabled that an app on the iPad is the only answer for them. You can’t even begin to understand how important your app was to all of us. I would like to put it out there that I, for one, would be your biggest cheerleader if you could find the time to update the app to make it work with a more current operating system on the iPad. Additionally, I can tell you that we all would be willing to support a more costly application if necessary. This app was worth much more than you were charging, and I can tell you that on behalf of many others. Please reconsider this and find the time to fix the app sooner rather than later. PLEASE!!!
